M. B. Goffstein (Brooke to her friends) loved long walks and two places were very special to her.
As a student at Bennington College, she loved walking the trail to North Bennington, especially at night when there were more stars in the dark overhead than she’d ever seen in her life.
There is a memorial bench beside the trail at Bennington Brooke loved so much. It faces out to a pond and bird sanctuary. A sign on the bench reads, “Listen—we’re going to tell such stories.” This was one of the last things Brooke told her husband before she passed on her birthday, December 21, 2017.
The second memorial bench is on the walking trail beside Bedford Road near her home in Bedford Hills, New York. Brooke walked on this path for many years and it’s hoped this gives something back to the community she loved.
